Private House, Lugano – Switzerland

Located on the shores of Lake Lugano, this contemporary residence was designed by Herzog & de Meuron. A modern and minimalist villa where pure white defines volumes, enhances light and shapes the identity of each space. To balance the diffused brightness, the ceilings are finished in a deep brown tone, creating a sense of intimacy and contemplation. This chromatic contrast softens the linear geometry, transforming it into more enveloping and welcoming environments. The interiors unfold as a fluid and coherent sequence, an architectural promenade that guides movement through a continuous spatial narrative. Each room connects naturally to the next, maintaining a refined balance between formal rigour and comfort. Conceived as a collector’s home, the project integrates unique pieces that interact with the architecture as discreet yet expressive elements. The result is a domestic space that combines essentiality and emotional depth, where light, colour and art define a personal and immersive living experience.
